Who are we?
Indian couture has always celebrated heritage — and nothing embodies it better than the timeless saree. For over 90 years, Ramprasad Bastralaya has carried this legacy forward, blending tradition with modernity and delivering it right to your doorstep.
Founded in 1933 by Lt. Shambhu Nath Saha in Kolkata, the brand began as a tribute to Bengal’s weavers, offering authentic fabrics like Tant, Baluchari, Dhaniakhali, Garad, and Jamdani. With each generation, our journey expanded — from Bengal’s looms to Eastern India with Bhagalpuri, Tussar, Bomkai, Madhubani prints, and beyond.
Today, under the third generation, we curate a diverse collection of sarees from across India, staying true to our roots while embracing the evolving spirit of couture. Ramprasad Bastralaya isn’t just about sarees — it’s about heritage, artistry, and the stories woven into every drape.
Meet our current torchbearer
Abhishek Saha’s initiation into the world of textiles and retail was almost preordained. As a child, he watched his grandfather and father meticulously handling fabrics, tending to every detail—from thread quality to weaving, to customer satisfaction. These early memories shaped his understanding that quality is more than a product—it is legacy, trust, and
experience.
At just 15, after school, Abhishek began working on the shop floor—learning the trade hands-on, interacting with customers, understanding their needs, observing the interplay between craftsmanship and commerce. After finishing a Bachelor of Commerce, he committed himself fully to carrying
forward the Bastralaya’s legacy, while also expanding its vision. Under his
guidance, Ramprasad Bastralaya has grown both in footprint and form: additional floors in its existing stores, plans for new outlets, and, more recently, the launch of its e-commerce platform—bringing the heritage to customers’ doorsteps.
